Hi, I'm Toby! I wanted to take a moment to re-introduce myself, as I'm usually posting about my work and how to release music. I grew up near Southend in Essex, and as long as I can remember I’ve loved music. Over the years I’ve played guitar, bass and keys in lots of different bands with varying degrees of success. Most notably as guitarist for Searching Alaska, an alternative rock band recognised for our appearance at Download Festival 2013 and winning the Red Bull Prize that year.
I started recording bands with my friend Jamie in his project studio back in 2006, then after University moved to London to pursue a career in audio. Through the years I’ve worked in film, TV and music, and I’ve been lucky enough to work at some of the most renowned facilities in the UK, including Pinewood Studios, Technicolor and Grand Central Recording Studios.
That winding road eventually led me to mastering. For the last few years I’ve been in Brighton working with artists and labels from different genres and from all over the world. I’ve also been lucky enough to have my work featured on some of the top national radio stations and playlists. I believe that the fresh perspective mastering can bring to a song has the power to take a good mix and make it truly great. When I'm not in the studio you'll find me on the beach here in Brighton, at gigs somewhere in our incredible live music scene or making my own music with my partner Beth as our indie-pop duo Infra Violet
